Rooted in Purpose: Reflections from the uLead Conference

Yesterday, I had the privilege of presenting Grounded Leadership at the uLead Conference to a room filled with over 100 school administrators from around the world. As I stood in front of this incredible group of educators, I was reminded of the power of shared purpose, deep listening, and the invisible threads of connection that link us together in this work.

Grounded Leadership is about more than a framework—it’s an invitation. An invitation to lead with presence, to show up authentically, and to remain rooted in what truly matters: our connection to self, to others, and to the land. In a world that often pulls us in a hundred different directions, this grounding is what keeps us aligned and resilient.

Thank you to every leader who joined the session. Your passion, insights, and willingness to engage openly brought the room to life. It’s in these shared spaces—where stories are exchanged, experiences are honored, and questions are asked—that the real learning happens.

As you return to your schools and communities, I hope the message of Grounded Leadership stays with you. May you continue to lead with courage, humility, and a strong sense of place. May your leadership be shaped not only by strategy, but also by stillness—by the quiet moments where we reflect, reconnect, and reimagine what’s possible.

Let’s keep learning from the trails and from each other.

Take it with you:

Reflection: When was the last time you felt truly grounded in your leadership? What helped you get there?

Challenge: This week, find five uninterrupted minutes to step outside—breathe deeply, notice the details around you, and reconnect with the land that holds your leadership.
